India Gate

A view of India Gate from far away. This is one place I visit to be happy whenever my mood seems to be going south. As usual the place worked its magic earlier this week and this photograph is the prized possession I took of my happy place.

Which is your happy place?

Christmas Lights

I captured the Christmas festivities in my office premises during the day and at night. This small nativity scene was set up outside one of the buildings.

In the evening, the whole building, including the flowers, was lighted beautifully!

The use of lights brought a smile and added to festive mood. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas weekend!

Portraits

Since I have been talking a lot about the photography classes I am attending these days, I thought of bringing a part of the class to you. This boy is posing for the camera and our teacher is explaining the 'Butterfly Lighting System' or the 'single lighting system' for clicking a good portrait photograph to the class. We have developed the roll and will soon print out photographs. I will scan the black an white prints and show them to you for comments soon. I hope these come out well as well.

Gurdwara Rakab Ganj

This is Gurdwara Rakab Ganj, located just 5 minutes away from my house. This is a Sikh temple and was decorated for the occasion of Baisakhi, which is a harvest festival celebrated across the various states of India. The Gurudwara was looking like a jeweled crown with the beautiful lights.

Colored Fountains

These are the colored fountains at Pragati Maidan. Sitting by the side of water in summers is a treat, but at present when the mercury is dipping to dangerous levels this is one place to avoid. A brrrrrrrrr Warm Good Morning to all.... brrrrrrrrrrr (it is too cold) :-)

My Sparkling Wet Delhi

www.SpeakBindas.com took my interview for one of their posts. Do let me know, what you think of my answers. :-)

I took these photos a few days ago. I simply love the way the lights of cars, buses etc twinkle when it rains. My sparkling wet Delhi in my rearview mirror.

A masterpiece by Akshat, my younger brother. This the Parliament of India on January 26 in its finery. Republic Day is the day India adopted its Constitution.

The Preamble Of the Indian Constitution States:

Lighted Rail Bhawan

This is Rail Bhavan, office of the Ministry of Indian Railways. With my mother working in the ministry for over 25 years now, I have practically grown in this office. Seeing it decorated and well lit up with the tri-color of our country proudly adorning its face, with the steam engine in the fore, I felt extremely proud and happy to click this particular photograph!

***************************************************************************************
Hilda from Manila, who is always Happy At Home and proudly shares My Manila with the world, tagged me to reveal five details about myself. And being a narcissist of the first order, my delight knew no bounds at the task… hehehe. So here I go:

1. I love to read and take ages to finish a book, as I tend to turn back pages several times.
2. Coffee, shopping and travelling have a neck to neck competition when vying for my attention.
3. Friends mean the world to me and I love to embarrass them by writing about them on Priyanka’s Point.
4. I love Shah Rukh Khan.
5. I am a true-blooded Gemini with 100 things on my mind all the time and another hundred that I try to work on at the same time.

Now I'm supposed to tag five other people. I hope they'll come out and play!

1. Patty Lincoln, Brookville
2. R.Ramesh, Dubai
3. Anu, Mumbai
4. One More Anu, Mumbai
5. Andrea, Hamburg

Happy Republic Day

My love for Delhi grows with each passing day. The city is decorated like a bride today and will be in her finery till January 29. This is the Raisina Hills, the seat of the government. The central dome is the Rashtrapati Bhawan, flanked on both the side by North and South block.

The lighting will continue till Beating Retreat on January 29. You had to be at Rajpath tonight to experience the magic and the festivity.

This photograph was clicked by my younger brother Akshat, while I drove around the heart of Delhi.

City Lights Up

This is how we in Delhi love to decorate even the trees and bushes when we are in a mood to celebrate. The lighting is similar for a new year eve's party, a wedding, or for a state celebration. Lights are an important part of celebrating. Here is wishing all the blog visitors several moments to celebrate in the days to come. :-)
