Government needs to Reflect

The government needs to reflect. The handling of the corruption in the country needs to be done in a better manner. Hopefully, this phase of the campaign initiated by India Against Corruption will yield results and the ministers sitting in the North Block will be able to take sensible decisions.

Here is the Parliament of India, where our ministers sit. These days they function only to pass bills which increase their salaries. make it compulsory for government officials to greet the MPs and MLAs with certain courtesies and ensure that the taxpayers money is used in the worst possible manner.

India's 61st Republic Day

We, Indians, are today celebrating the 61st Republic Day. It was on 26th January 1950 that the Constitution of India came into force. This is the Parliament of India, where our lawmakers sit and decide the fate of the country.

I hope that the politicians sitting in this sacred chamber of democracy take a pledge to concentrate on realising the potential India has as a young republic rather than investing time in encouraging communal disharmony in the country.

P.S: Mile Sur Mera Tumhara was a song composed in the 1980s which spoke of India's unity in diversity and had several icons of that time featuring in the video. The same song has been improvised and a new video featuring the Indian icons of today has been released across the country today. You can see the new version, Phir Mile Sur, here.

Sansad Bhawan: Parliament Of India

This is the view of the Sansad Bhawan, or the Parliament of India from Vijay Chowk. The Parliament is a circular building and is one of the many British architectural gems that adorn the Raisina Hill.

Dot hai toh HOT hai! (If you have a dot, you are HOT)

The star voters of Delhi. These are fingers (the hand with the gold ring is mine) of my colleagues, who went to cast their votes before coming to office today. Delhi went to polls today to elect its representatives to Lower House, called the Lok Sabha, of the Parliament. The campaign urging people to vote was rigorous this time around and I hope many more people like us went out to vote, braving the scorching sun. Sporting a DOT on our fingers is so HOT today and most of us in Delhi are celebrating the festival of Democracy today.

Parliament

A masterpiece by Akshat, my younger brother. This the Parliament of India on January 26 in its finery. Republic Day is the day India adopted its Constitution.

The Preamble Of the Indian Constitution States:

WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens:

JUSTICE, social, economic and political;
LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship;
EQUALITY of status and of opportunity;
and to promote among them all
FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation;
