A Light Love Story

In a world which exists near India Gate, New Delhi, little hearts live.



The humans, who always seem to be in a hurry, seldom notice these beautiful colourful hearts.


They dance to the music they create and only they can understand.


Sometime ago, two white hearts that shone brighter than any other, saw each other and it was love at first sight!


The male heart gave the female heart a big red heart shaped balloon.



They came closer and the other happy hearts became bigger with all the love in their hearts.


The love was great and so magnificient that the two white hearts it seemed became ONE!


And they lived happily ever after :-)


P.S: My first attempt at custom bokeh. Hope you all liked it. I had a great time learning the technique.

इश्क-ए-दिल्ली Loving Delhi

Earlier this year, the Delhi Government held many events celebrating 100 years of Delhi being named the capital city of India. Unfortunately, I was not in the city or in the mood for celebration then. But I think it is never too late to join the party so I decided to explore some treasures of the city I had heard a lot about but never explored myself. First on my list was the Light and Sound Show called, Ishq-e-Dilli (Love for Delhi) at Purana Qila or Old Fort.

The show beautifully captures the history of Delhi, how the city passed on from the hands of one ruler to the other and how several men and women have expressed their love for the city from time to time. I would recommend everyone living in Delhi or visiting it to see the show at least once.

The dimly lit Old Fort and the nip in the air created the perfect ambiance for a magical evening of history, sound, light and love for Delhi.

The number 4 instruction left me a little disappointed but with a huge smile the staff there told me that only commercial photography was not allowed. I could take my camera.

We were greeted with these curtains on the wall that was to function as our stage.

The curtains were raised and history unfolded.

October Theme Day: Mystery object: Bubbles

I have been fascinated with soap bubbles since I was a kid. It was mandatory for my parents to buy me a pack of soap bubbles along with the straw (bubble maker) that were being sold at India Gate. Even at the age of 28 I still think that the bubbles are the best gift someone can give me at India Gate.

The reason I chose bubbles as my post for the theme day is because they are mysterious. They are never the same size. They create a unique magic with light every time. They are free and love their freedom and enjoy it to the max even in their short life.

The Golden Treasure

This golden treasure evokes emotions in me that no amount of words can do justice to.


I was glad to see some more fans looking in awe at this magical structure.



Meanwhile, this soldier stood guarding the golden beauty, which the world knows as India Gate.

Spotted this beauty standing sans its owner at India Gate recently. Despite being all alone in the big, bad world she should proud and brave :-)

Colours of Victory! Cricket World Cup 2011: India!

I am falling short of words and never before in my life have I wanted to talk more. A sweet, long awaited victory for Team India at the Cricket World Cup 2011 finals in Mumbai and Delhi erupted into a celebration that the city has never ever witnessed before. The whole city was on the roads celebrating the return of the Cup after 28 long years. Everywhere one turned one saw people proudly carrying the Indian Tri-Colour (Flag), dancing to bollywood numbers, cheering for the Men in Blue, greeting strangers with priceless smiles. We were not Delhiites last night. We were all Indians: Proud, Happy, Content :-)

India Gate

A view of India Gate from far away. This is one place I visit to be happy whenever my mood seems to be going south. As usual the place worked its magic earlier this week and this photograph is the prized possession I took of my happy place.

Not Too Cold For Them!

While most of Delhi and Delhiites are freezing, soldiers at India Gate are busy practicing for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations. Covered in 5 layers of woolens, I braved the cold to get this shot. A warm brrrrrrr to everyone visiting the blog :-)

Sprucing up Delhi for XIX Commonwealth Games

A Delhiite knows something big is round the corner, when we see India Gate being cleaned. This huge mesh of iron rods has been created to clean the nook and crevices of the monument that rests in the centre of Delhi to ready is before the XIX Commonwealth Games. I had visited the India Gate lawns yesterday with my family to enjoy the Monsoon showers . I was not the only one, it seemed the whole city had decided to go to India Gate, walk in the rain and have ice-cream. It was an evening spent well. :-)

Delhi Logo #2

This is the second logo in the series which caught my fancy at the Delhi Domestic airport. The inner circle is made India Gate , the middle circle is Jantar Mantar and the outer circle is Red Fort. While India Gate and Red Fort have been covered extensively on Delhi Photo Diary, I will be posting a series on Jantar Mantar soon.

I spotted this logo at the Delhi Domestic airport. the inner circle is made of Qutub Minar, the middle circle is India Gate and the outer circle is Lotus Temple. All three have been featured on the blog from time to time. I will post a similar logo with different monuments tomorrow.

April Theme Day: Red: Horns

To welcome the month of April, CityDailyPhoto decided the theme as RED. I could think of nothing better but these RED devil's horns that are sold around the India Gate gardens. If you follow cricket, you would know that the Delhi DareDevils represent my city in the Indian Premier League. Most supporters wear these horns, which can be lit by pushing a small switch. I hope the month of April proves lucky for Delhi and the team fares well in the ongoing IPL.
