December Theme Day: Action Shot: Photo Drive
This is me in action, shooting while driving!
December theme day is here again reminding us that the year is about to end. Generally, I spend the last month of the year looking back at what happened in my life, good as well as bad. The main aim of the exercise is to ensure I do not skip a lesson that life wanted to teach me. The year, tough as it was, taught me to keep going and look forward come what may. This year will be improtant for me for a lot of reasons two of them:
1. I bought my first DSLR camera.
2. I fell in love with the roads of Delhi once again.
How was your year?

Foot Over-bridge, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital
Delhi after rains invites me to take my camera out for a walk. Last evening I decided to not go too far as something interesting caught my eye nearby. I decided to explore the foot over-bridge near Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. The bridge was built as a part of the preparations for the Commonwealth Games held last year.
The unit is swanky and the escalators installed are the main attraction. I was disappointed to find that the escalators are shut down on Sundays because of a low number of footfall. So I climbed the stairs.
Once I reached the bridge, I found these lamps fascinating. They reminded me of the Chinese hat that Po wore in Kung Fu Panda 2.
The bridge not only has escalators and regular steps but also elevators for the physically challenged. Not one to waste an opportunity of clicking a photograph of myself, I took this photograph on the shiny, rain-washed surface of the elevator (which was also shut down on the account of it being Sunday).
It was a sight to see lush green trees lining the roads while a slow but steady movement of cars kept the roads company.
I decided to pack my camera and go home for a cup of tea as the sun set behind the greenery of my beautiful Delhi!

Animal Sightings
I LOVE driving on the roads of Delhi. The fellow passengers keep me amused. :-)
A langoor riding a two-wheeler above and horses being carried in a mini-truck. Beautiful animals.

Happy Spring!

The bad thing about Spring in Delhi is that it is short lived. the good thing is that the 15 days that the season lasts, flowers erupt, rather than bloom in every possible place. This is a bright red bushel I spotted while driving to work. Will get you more road-side flowers in the days to come. Happy Spring!

Delhi-Gurgaon Toll
.jpg)
Yesterday I had put up trains, today I thought roads would be the way to go. This is the Delhi-Gurgaon toll. While crossing the Delhi-Gurgaon border a toll of 17 ruppees per car is charged. The express highway is a fairly new phenomena in Delhi and I must say that drivers like me love the express highway where the speed seldom drops below the 60km/hr mark and the roads are as wide as possible.

BRT At Night
.jpg)
Roads have always held a special place in my heart. Like Robert Kincaid of Bridges of Maddison County was one of the Last Cowboys, I have a strong feeling that I am one of the Last Travelers. Any road gives me a sense of belonging. Although quite a paradox, I find I am most at home when traveling.
This is my own miniature Delhi version of the famous Marine Drive of Mumbai. It is semi-circular, has lights and is beautiful. Instead of the vast Arabic Ocean, this particular section of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) road is filled with a sea of cars.
A happy metaphorical day to all!!!

Lane Driving, Safe Driving
.jpg)
a very self-explanatory photo here. Though driving in Delhi is not easy for someone who abides by rules. The traffic and the motorists in Delhi are very innovative and do not shy to display their skills of coming up with flawless (according to them) rules and then enforcing their fabrications on others as well. Lane Driving is Insane Driving, according to Delhi drivers. :-)
