National Rail Museum, Delhi

With the clouds still in the sky, I was unable to take out my film SLR camera for a monument shoot (my first assignment for the photography class I have joined). Instead I relied on my trusted mobile phone camera and went to the National Rail Museum, Delhi with my younger brother, Akshat, and a friend, Varoon. As the day progressed clouds decided to pull back a little and sun shone on us and the three of us had a good time going train crazy. The National Rail Museum is one of my favourite places in Delhi as this is the only open museum I have ever seen.

Below is the joy-train that carries passengers around the museum. It is very popular with children. I really like the small platform from where the train begins its journey.
This engine here shows how earlier, coal was used to boil water to power the steam engines.

Happy 2nd Birthday Ross!

Ross, our labrador dog, turned 2 yesterday. As a treat, we took him to India Gate. This is Akshat, my younger brother, playing with Ross at India gate.

Special Treat

I have a special treat for Delhi Photo Diary visitors today. The slogan calling on people to light a lamp and fight the darkness in the world greeted the audience, who had come to see the opening play 'Friends' by the Breathing Space group at the International Children's Theater Festival. Below are videos of some portions of the play. The play was special as my younger brother, Akshat was also performing.

Champions League: Delhi Daredevils vs Wayamba

These posters greeted us at Feroz Shah Kotla Grounds Sunday evening.



Here is Akshat, my younger brother, cheering for our city team, flag et al.
We were lucky enough to get the front row seats in a stadium which was jam-packed.


Here is a screen shot of the man, Dinesh Karthik, who made the match worthwhile, hitting 3 sixes in 3 balls.

The fate of the match was decided in favour of the home team and most people left earlier than the presentation ceremony.

Symbols

This photo was clicked by my talented younger brother Akshat. He told me that a wall in his principal's office is adorned with the symbols associated with various religions. This photo is a proof that St Micheal's School, where Akshat studies, is surely a secular school, which respects all the religions.

Use Me!

This is a dustbin I spotted in St. Michael School, where my brother, Akshat studies. Now if dustbins were this cute not everyone would like to dump garbage into them. However, I do believe that in a city like ours, where tonnes and tonnes of garbage is produced almost every hour, utilities like these are extremely necessary.

Laxmi Narayan Temple

This is the Laxmi Narayan Temple, walking distance from my house. This is the first place that most guests coming from outside Delhi to my place, want to visit. Its easy being a host if such a beautiful temple is located at the vicinity. I could click only the building since photography is banned inside the temple. Visiting temples is something that Indians do at all possible occasions. I will soon be taking Akshat, my younger brother to this wonderful temple as he is on the threshold of giving one of the most important exams of his life.. the 10th standard boards. Please wish him all the luck.
