Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it.

Words of the great Michelangelo. It seems that the Delhi government agrees. With just 70 odd days left for the city to host the XIX Commonwealth Games 2010, the process of beautifying Delhi is on full swing. I spotted this statue on the Baba Kharak Singh Marg, facing the several state emporiums in Connaught Place. Thumbs-up for the government's aesthetics, at least in this case.

State Emporiums

This is the lane of state emporiums. These are government owned shops which have been established to promote the crafts and textiles of each state of India. It is one of my favourite places to take guests, who come from outside of India. Shopping here is bliss as you can buy souvenirs from the whole of India in a matter of couple of hours.
