Bug and Bravery

What does one do when a giant insect like this one decides to sit on the car windshield on way to work. any sensible person driving the car would, I assume, use the wipers to make the insect go away. But a photo-blogger has duties that she needs to fulfil to the best of her capabilities. So without breaking into a series of girly shrieks. I kept my cool, took out my camera and decided to take a photograph of the giant insect instead.

I am hoping that the blogger community will award my bravery soon :-)

Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye: Delhi Photo Diary Wins 2008 Indibloggies Award

I would have loved to click self portraits with me jumping everywhere, my hair running wild and a smile on my face wide enough that you could count my teeth. But in the welfare of humanity I decided against scaring the daylights out of you. The reason for the celebration is that Delhi Photo Diary has won the 2008 Indibloggies Award.

I wish I could have distributed chocolates to everyone who has ever visited Delhi Photo Diary and especially to those who cast their votes. However, since distances do not permit such an extravagance, here is a photo of one of my favourite chocolates. Please have one at your end and think of me while the chocolate melts into your mouth.

'Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye', is Hindi for lets have something sweet. On any occasion of celebration we Indians love to have something sweet.

Thanks a tonne for your votes and support. :D

P.S: The pen is just for artistic effect. :D

Delhi Photo Diary In Race for the 2008 Indibloggies Award

PLEASE

Vote for Delhi Photo Diary in the 15th category by clicking this link http://multivote.sparklit.com/web_poll.spark/21900

My mother calls me every afternoon at around 2:30 pm. It is a daily ritual, which even my colleagues have come to let go unnoticed. The conversation is standard.

Mom: Hello!
Me Hi!
Mom: Hows the day been so far?
Me: Ok!
Mom: Had your lunch?
Me: Yup It was very tasty.
Mom: Anything else?
Me: Nope. See you in the evening.

Today, however, she called and without the customary hello, went on to say, you have been nominated for an award. I always dreamed of winning the Noble Peace Prize but with US President Barack Obama winning this year's honours I had given up hope. My mom's excited tone brought me back to reality and I made a serious attempt to comprehend what she was saying.
Mom: I am sending you the link. Delhi Photo Diary has been nominated to win the Best Indi Photo blog at the 2008 Indibloggies. Go and see.

Me: Ok! Are you sure?
Mom: GO!
Me: YIPEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Colleagues: WHAT???!!!

To cut the long story short: Delhi Photo Diary has been nominated and the final phase is public poll. This means that all of you, who have over the past year and a half visited the blog, returned and passed it on to others, have the option of voting for it.

Delhi Photo Diary is
my attempt to capture my city through my mobile phone camera. :-)

One More Award

Avinash gave me this award, called "Let's be Friends Award". I am really honored as he is an enthusiastic blogger who does a wonderful job of encouraging his huge group of friends to blog regularly. You can visit Avinash's blogs at Delhi With Avinash and Friends & Avinash- The Pariah...Then there was you.

This is what the "Let's Be Friends" Award represents:These blogs are remarkably charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement.

I accept the award with bucket loads of humility. Thanks a ton for the award and more importantly for your regular visits and comments, although I fail to reciprocate most of the times.

I am not forwarding the award as most of the people I feel like presenting the award to, refuse to accept it because of some reasons. I duly respect their decision and have decided not to burden them. However, I am not of their kind and love the adulation that comes my way.

Thanks Avinash.

Happy blogging

My First Award

Old Lady Lincoln, Patty, gave me my first ever blogger award. :D I am so gleefully happy that you can see all my 32 teeth. :D

Now its my turn to choose 8 people for the award. So here I go:

1. Abe, he is the father of blogging according to many and whenever I visit his blog or when I see his comments on my posts I am always reminded of my Grandfather, who is unfortunately no more around.
2. Kris, he has a very sharp sense of wit and humour. He has 2 adorable kids and his viewpoint of the world more often than not gives me a lot of food for thought.
3. Magiceye, he truly posses an eye to capture things that I never noticed about Mumbai on my several trips to the city.
4.Eliane, she is one of the most lively people I have found on the blogosphere. She is my window to NYC.
5.Nitu, she is very friendly and a very genuinely nice person. Visiting her blog is always a pleasure and finding her comments on mine is even more fun. :-)
6. Chuck, You need to visit his blog to see Seattle like never before. He is most generous with his compliments to me.
7. Jazzy, she is one of the firsts to have encouraged me continue with my blog. I love her photos. she writes very little... but her photos speak a thousand words.
8. Rohit, he is my latest discovery from the world of blogs. I really liked reading his posts. No photos here but two thumbs-up for his fictional and exaggerated reality posts.

"Blogs that receive this award are 'exceeding charming,' says its author. This blog invests and believes in the PROXIMITY-nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement! Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this clever-written text into the body of their award."

The award made me smile on a day, when I was not too happy. Hopefully it spreads the smile to those I have chosen. And hopefully others would smile after seeing the awarded blogs.

Thanks Patty!!!
