These are earthen
kandils or lanterns that are used in villages (which still have no electricity) to light up rooms, especially during festivals. I spotted this arrangement in one of the high end restaurants, 'Soul Punjab' in GK-II. It is ironic that something that the poor are forced to resort to in absence of the basic necessity of electricity, affluent use to decorate a high-end grub joint.
It is beautiful, I will give it that.

Lovely picture priyanka....i know what you mean by that and beleive me its no fun sitting around without electricity. i have experienced it first hand when i was posted in the village..... but personally i have a weakness for earthern stuffs .....lamps are one of my favorites after pots....last time i was at a crafts bazar in kolkatta i picked up a few of these lamps .

beautiful capture, wonder how many in Delhi use the kerosene one, its very rare here, i still remember studying in lanterns on my summer trips to my village....
